    • National Student Clearinghouse
      • Chronicle of Higher Education interactive state-by-state breakdown of UG 6-yr graduation rates, from National Student Clearinghouse data.  Unlike IPEDS, NSC data includes both graduated from starting institution and graduated elsewhere: State Graduation Rates.  You will need to be a Chronicle of Higher Ed subscriber to access the report
      • Uses participating institutions’ enrollment data. Services include enrollment verification, Federal enrollment reports, and tracking students’ enrollment across institutions regardless of state and college/university-system boundaries.
      • More than 3,500 institutions participate, ranging from community colleges to Ivy League doctoral/research-extensive universities.
      • The May/June 2009 issue of Assessment Update includes an article on using NSC data as a proxy for a “national enrollment database.”
      • NSC research reports are available to the public (pdf files, see About the Clearinghouse).
        • Starting with the 6th Signature Report (December 2013) includes “nontraditional” persistence/completion rates (part-time enrollment and enrollment at multiple institutions). This InsideHigherEd article has an overview. The state-by-state supplement to the 8th Signature Report was released in February 2015; Chronicle of Higher Education’s interactive table summarizes its data (the online Chronicle article is restricted to subscribers; most college/university libraries subscribe).

    • The Voluntary Institutional Metrics Project
      • A work in progress, designing measures & dashboard displays for institutional effectiveness.
      • Progress reports and sample dashboard displays are pdf files. Measures developed so far focus on educational cost and on student progress, completion, & employment. Learning outcomes measures are still to come.
      • Current participants are primarily community colleges and/or institutions emphasizing distance education.

    • The Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study, from the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES).
      • Employment and further education, four years after graduation. The most recent reports are based on surveys of the 2008 graduating cohort.
      • Reports & methodology descriptions (pdf files) and some data files are available to the public.
    • Community College Research Center at Columbia University’s Teachers College.
      • A report on community college’s impact on employment and earnings. The report includes data on dropouts, while other reports focus on completers; it’s one state’s data and not a nationwide analysis (it uses 2002-2005 transcript data from North Carolina CC system and the NC unemployment office).
    • Department of Education (DOE) Scorecard
      • The Economist’s rankings of college value (defined as the difference between how much its graduates earn and how much they might have earned if they had studied elsewhere).
      • The Economist 10/31/2015 article includes a summary of results.
      • Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy, Center on Education and the Workforce-Rankings adjusted for major and student participation/graduate training.
        • There is a link to the full report which as three tables for median earnings 10 years after graduation; rankings for deviation from expected based on composition of majors in the institution’s undergraduate population; rankings for major adjusted deviation from expected further adjusted for median ACT and likelihood that student would go on to graduate/professional training.

    • Economic Success Metrics, from CollegeMeasures.org, a joint project of the American Institutes for Research and the Matrix Knowledge Group.
      • First-year salaries of graduates from public colleges/universities employed in that state, by institution & program. (See the data limitations and caveats.)
      • Results from Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia are available. CollegeMeasures is working on similar projects with other states.
        • Summaries of the Arkansas and Tennessee results, and a link to Florida’s Beyond Education data site are on the ESM site. AIR has a summary and analysis of Virginia’s results.
    • Florida Education & Training Placement Information Program (FETPIP)
      • First-year quarterly earnings for Florida community college and public university graduates employed in Florida (pdf files).
    • Launch My Career Colorado shows potential earnings (starting, later-career, and median) and job availability by job and career category as well as by institution.
    • National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) First-Destination Survey.   The survey captures information regarding how new college graduates fare in their careers within six months of graduation. The executive summary is available now (pdf).  Review of the survey findings is detailed in Ellen Wexler’s June 2016 Inside Higher Ed article, “Class of 2015 Is Finding Work.”
    • National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) survey regarding post-college outcomes.  The NACE survey is reviewed by Jacqueline Thomsen in the June 5, 2015 article in InsideHigherEd.  The article has since been archived.

      • Earnings of CCC-system graduates employed in California, two years before, two years after, & five years after earning a community college certificate or degree.
